Congratulations

Great news:  Our school website has received a nomination for an Eircom Junior Spider award!
Read about the Junior Spiders at http://www.juniorspiders.ie/.  These awards are awarded at a national level to schools at primary and post primary level, and we are very honoured to be shortlisted for this award.
Well done to all teachers and students who keep our website up-to-date and looking interesting and colourful.
Well done to all parents, families, students and teachers who use our website to keep in touch with what happens on a day to day basis at school, and who use the links to continue learning at home.

More great news:  Not only did we receive a nomination for our school website, but we also received two more nominations in the Best School Project category:  One of these is for Our Butterfly page of the website http://scoilchaitrionajnrbutterfly.blogspot.com/ , and the other is for Ms. McLoughlin's page of the website http://scoilchaitrionajnrmsmcloughlin.blogspot.com/ .

We wish the very best of luck to our team of teachers and students who will travel to the Helix in Dublin on December 13th to represent our school at the award ceremony.  We hope they wow everyone with their stands, showing other schools how we use our website and project pages and how easy it is to learn lots when using these websites.

Parking restrictions

Dear parents,

In spite of repeated requests, parking in front of the school, on the road and on the verges, continues to cause concern in relation to the safety of the children coming to school.

We are required to remind you that under the by-laws fo the City Council the area at the front of the school on Renmore Avenue is strictly a NO PARKING AREA and is marked with double lines.

The safety and welfare of the children must be our principal concern, therefore, we request you to abide by these by-laws at all times.

Parking for the school is available in the church car park.

A range of sanctions including clamping is being investigated by the Board of Management in order to deal with the issue.

Thank you for your co-operation in this matter.

Yours sincerely
Malachy Thompson
Chairperson, Board of Management

Feedback from judges

Last term our school entered the Junior Spider awards.  We were not chosen as the school with the best blog website, however we did get some really positive feedback.  Here is what the judges said about us:

Plenty of information about the school on this blog site. Regular updates
keeps the site fresh and up to date.

Great use of links and other resources relevant to what the children are
learning (e.g. Sites to use with the Whiteboards). Very good website with
simple effective navigation and good use of photography too. Plenty of
information, all findable and browseable easily.

Féile Scoildrámaíochta: Drama festival

Tuesday, 15th February 2011

Well done to Ms. Conneely's Junior Infants, to Ms. Tierney's Senior Infants and to Ms. McLoughlin's Senior Infants who represented our school and performed so well at today's Féile Scoildrámaíochta. It was a terrific day - our double decker bus left to go to Inverin at 10:30am (with all costumes on and make-up done before we left). We really enjoyed watching the Snow White and the 7 dwarfs that were on before us, and we really enjoyed watching each others plays.  All our plays went without a hitch. We are delighted.

Results for all the plays will be announced on Radio na Gaeltachta (an Irish Language radio station) on Friday at 6pm or 6:30pm. Teachers will know the results early next week. Well done to all our children, and to all the parents who provided the costumes, our fan club parents who came to support us, to Nessa, Maggie, Mrs. Phelan, Ms. Cunningham, Nora and Mrs. Carleton who did our make up and helped us so much on the day, and of course to Len for the fabulous sets and props.
Congratulations to all!
